The Montreal Impact have acquired Didier Drogba's Major League Soccer rights from the Chicago Fire and are set to sign the Ivorian striker, ESPNFC's Jeff Carlisle reports

Drogba will sign an 18-month contract worth $3 million annually, according to the report. Chicago initially acquired Drogba's rights, but Drogba prefers French-speaking Montreal as a destination.

In return for Drogba's rights, the Impact sent targeted and regular allocation money to the Fire, according to ESPNFC.

Drogba, 37, still hasn't signed an agreement with Montreal, Carlisle reports. The MLS transfer window ends on Aug. 6.

Drogba most recently played for Chelsea, scoring four goals in 28 appearances last season.
