Kraft family hires Goldman Sachs to finance Boston soccer stadium

The Kraft family hired Goldman Sachs to finance an MLS stadium in Boston for the New England Revolution.

The Kraft family will work with Goldman Sachs to finance a soccer stadium in Boston, reportsThe Boston Globe. 

The Krafts, who own the NFL's New England Patriots and MLS's New England Revolution, met with city officials in July in hopes of building a new soccer stadium in an “urban” area of Boston, according to the report. 

The Revolution currently play their games at Gillette Stadium, shared with the Patriots.

Goldman Sachs has been involved in numerous stadium finance plans of late, including the new Yankee Stadium deal and deals for the Orlando Magic and Sacramento Kings. The Yankees' financing plan faced some criticism for its cost to taxpayers.

The Kraft family is hoping to build a stadium within Boston, as opposed to in the suburbs like Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. This would follow the trend of smaller MLS stadiums being built in densely populated areas. 

According to the Globe report, plans for the stadium are still in the preliminary stages.
