Karim Benzema sets record straight over Real Madrid transfer rumors
Karim Benzema would like everyone, especially "all those clowns," to know that he is not planning on leaving Real Madrid.
After weeks and weeks of transfer rumors linking Benzema to a move away from Real Madrid–most notably to Premier League power Arsenal–the France national team forward took to Twitter to squash all of them with days in the summer window ticking down.
Just Monday, Benzema was the subject of more reports claiming that he is "ready to consider a move to the Emirates." One UK outlet has even cobbled together a timeline of his potential move to join Arsene Wenger's Gunners. Based on his social media statement soon after, that might be a bit of a reach.
Benzema's currently employer didn't seem too displeased with him handling his own PR in this instance.
Benzema did not play in Real Madrid's season-opening 0-0 draw at Sporting Gijon, continuing his comeback from a thigh muscle injury. He participated in a recovery session with his Real Madrid teammates on Monday. If his tweet is to be taken as gospel, they'll be his teammates for considerably longer as well. He's signed with the club through 2019.
