ROME (AP) — Former England defender Ashley Cole has been left off Roma's squad for the Champions League and appears to be on his way out of the Serie A club.
The 34-year-old Cole joined Roma a year ago on a two-year deal but fell out of favor after only a few months. He was not in the squad for Roma's opening two matches this season and on Wednesday, Cole wasn't even listed on Roma's website as one of its players.
Roma recently signed Lucas Digne to replace Cole at left back and the France international made a strong debut in Sunday's 2-1 win over four-time defending champion Juventus.
Midfielder Kevin Strootman, who underwent his third knee surgery in two years Tuesday, was also left out of the Champions League squad.
