Watch: USMNT's DeAndre Yedlin delivers assist in Sunderland debut

U.S. men's national team winger DeAndre Yedlin made his Sunderland debut Tuesday, and even though the Black Cats were bounced from the League Cup by Manchester City in emphatic fashion, Yedlin earned a consolation prize.
Playing for the first time since securing his season-long loan from Tottenham, Yedlin started and assisted on a late goal in a 4-1 loss to the Premier League leader at the Stadium of Light.
Manchester City took an early lead, with Sergio Aguero scoring on a ninth-minute penalty. New signings Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling sandwiched a Vito Mannone own goal to put City up 4-0 after 36 minutes and all but secure passage to the fourth round, but Yedlin helped Sunderland save a little face in the 83rd minute.
Getting forward on his preferred right side, Yedlin served a pinpoint cross to Ola Toivonen, who headed home from close range to get Sunderland on the board. Watch the play below:

Yedlin will hope that his 90-minute showing was enough to convince manager Dick Advocaat to write his name in the lineup card again on Saturday against another Premier League power, Manchester United.
