USA-Mexico to be shown at over 200 movie theaters across United States

USA vs. Mexico will be shown at movie theaters across the country.

The USA-Mexico men's soccer rivalry is going to the big screen.

The October 10 showdown at the Rose Bowl for CONCACAF's berth in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup will be shown at over 200 movie theaters across the United States, Fathom Events announced on Thursday. The organization is teaming with Fox Sports 1 to show the highly anticipated showdown live. The winner will go to Russia in the summer of 2017, where the likes of the host nation, defending World Cup champion Germany, 2015 Copa America winner Chile and 2015 Asian Cup winner Australia and three other sides will be waiting.

The landscape for next month's playoff has changed a bit in the last week, with Mexico's Andres Guardado and Rafael Marquez picking up injuries that are set to keep them out of action. For the U.S., integral winger/fullback Fabian Johnson has returned from injury, and he scored in his first game back with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Both managers, USA's Jurgen Klinsmann and Mexico's interim boss Tuca Ferretti, have until Oct. 1 to trim their provisional rosters down to 23 players.

“We’re really excited to be working with Fathom Events to bring the huge match between the U.S. and Mexico to big screens throughout the country,” David Nathanson, FOX Sports head of business operations, said in a release. “Live sports are the ultimate shared community experience, and the electric scene at what will be a jam-packed Rose Bowl will no doubt have fans in theaters feeling as if they’re in Pasadena too.”
