Reports: Steven Gerrard to train with Liverpool during MLS off-season

LA Galaxy midfielder Steven Gerrard is set for a return to Anfield this winter.
Gerrard will train at his former club, Liverpool, during the MLS off-season, although there are no indications that he will suit up again for the Reds in an official capacity, according to multiple reports.
Gerrard, who played at Liverpool from 1998 to 2015, making more than 500 appearances and winning the 2004-2005 Champions League title with the club, just completed his first go-around in MLS. He joined the defending champion Galaxy in July, scoring two goals and assisting on three others in 13 starts. The club had its title defense cut short last week, falling to the Seattle Sounders 3-2 in a one-game Western Conference playoff.
With Gerrard set to be off until March given the MLS schedule, he appears headed back to his old stomping grounds after reported talks with new Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. It would require a loan from the Galaxy to Liverpool to permit the 35-year-old Gerrard the opportunity to play again for Liverpool.
Klopp poured cold water on the idea that he would play or act as an assistant coach for Liverpool during the winter on Wednesday, telling reporters, “He is a legend. If he’s in Liverpool and wants to train ahead of next season in L.A. that’s absolutely no problem. Nothing else.”
The Independent reports that Gerrard will attend Liverpool's match against Crystal Palace at Anfield this weekend.
Gerrard has already indicated that the 2016 MLS season could be his last as a professional, telling reporters in Seattle, “It could be my last season as a footballer. … I certainly don’t want to feel like I’m feeling right now come next year. I’d love to go out on a high. It’s a long season and I only came here for the last four months, but I’ll certainly be better for the experience next year.”
