Columbus Crew SC midfielder Justin Meram scored the fastest goal in MLS playoff history in the club's MLS conference final first leg against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday at MAPFRE Stadium.
The Crew scored off the opening kick, with Kei Kamara flicking on for Ethan Finlay, who got a touch on it inside the Red Bulls' box. Meram latched onto it with a right-footed strike, beating Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles in just nine seconds. Ironically, the Red Bulls scored the fastest goal in MLS regular season history last month, when Mike Grella scored in just seven seconds.
