Champions League round of 16 draw: Barcelona to play Arsenal
Defending champion Barcelona is set to face Arsenal in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.
The Champions League round of 16 draw took place Monday in Switzerland, and matched up the eight group winners from the first round with group runners-up. Teams from the same country or same group are not permitted to face off in the round of 16.
Barcelona defeated Juventus last year to claim its fifth Champions League title. The Spanish club has knocked Arsenal out of the tournament three times in the last 10 years, eliminating the English squad from the quarterfinals in 2010 and from the round of 16 in 2010, and beating them in the final in 2006.
Other notable pairings include Paris Saint-Germain vs. Chelsea, Bayern Munich vs. Juventus and Real Madrid vs. Roma.
The first leg of the tournament will be held on Feb. 16 through 17 and Feb. 23 through 24. The second leg is scheduled for March 8 through 9 and March 15 through 16. The matchups for each leg are below.
