Report: Stanford's Jordan Morris to turn pro, in talks with Sounders

United States national team forward and Stanford star Jordan Morris will skip his final collegiate season and turn pro.

United States men's national team forward and Stanford star Jordan Morris will skip his final collegiate season and turn pro, according to Goal.com.

Morris is currently negotiating a contract with the Seattle Sounders of the MLS, where he would sign as a homegrown player. The club already confirmed that it has offered Morris the most lucrative contract for a homegrown player in league history.

Morris has also reportedly received offers from clubs overseas, with reported interest from the Bundesliga. 

Morris earned his first call-up to the national team in 2014 as a sophomore in college. He has made seven appearances with the senior team, scoring one goal.

Stanford won its first soccer national championship this season with a 4–0 over Clemson on Dec. 13, with Morris scoring twice in the final to cap his junior season. Morris was named a first-team All-American after tallying 13 goals and three assists in 2015 and is a finalist for the Hermann Trophy, which is given annually to the best player in the country. The winner will be announced on Friday.
