MLS expansion team LAFC unveils crest, black and gold colors
LAFC is slated to enter MLS in 2018, and the expansion side unveiled its colors and crest in anticipation of its debut.
Those expecting another black and red incarnation based on the organization's previous announcements so far will be surprised. The club with the star-studded, 26-person ownership group boasts black and gold colors with a crest that includes the initials L.A. and has a wing (L.A. is the city of angels, after all) as the horizontal line connecting the A. Majority owner Henry Nguyen did acknowledge that a "flash" of red would be part of the team's look as well. The brand announcement was held in front of a spirited group at Los Angeles's Union Station.
From the technical side, LAFC remains a work in progress, with the club hiring former player John Thorrington as it's executive vice president of soccer operations. From the branding side, it is set. Here is what the eventual club will wear over its hearts on the field:
The club also introduced a pair of new part owners, including actor Will Ferrell.
