Landon Donovan welcomes first child
U.S. soccer legend Landon Donovan announced the birth of his first child on Wednesday.
U.S. soccer legend Landon Donovan and his wife Hannah Bartell have welcomed their first child, he announced on Twitter on Wednesday.
“The greatest joy and most love I’ve ever experienced,” Donovan tweeted, along with a picture of his family. “Welcome to the world Talon Bartell Donovan.”
Donovan, who retired from soccer in 2014, scored 57 goals and recorded 58 assists in 157 caps with the U.S. national team.
A 14-year MLS veteran, Donovan holds the league’s record for goals and assists with 169 and 150, respectively, in 379 appearances. The 33-year-old also won a record six MLS Cups in his career.

The MLS Most Valuable Player award was renamed after Donovan in 2015.
