Tim Howard loses starting job with Everton
Tim Howard has lost his starting job as Everton’s goalkeeper.
Tim Howard has lost his starting job as Everton’s goalkeeper for this weekend’s FA Cup fifth-round tie at Bournemouth, manager Roberto Martinez said Friday.
Joel Robles, 25, will start in place of the 36-year-old Howard, who is also a member of the United States national team.
Robles proved to be a viable option in goal for Martinez’s club when Howard was sidelined by a knee injury earlier this month, as he kept a clean sheet in matches against Newcastle and Stoke. Despite Howard’s return to the club following the injury, Robles remained in goal last weekend for a 1–0 loss to West Brom.
