Jozy Altidore (hamstring) could miss Toronto FC's season opener
Toronto FC forward Jozy Altidore is questionable for the team's season opener with a nagging hamstring injury, manager Greg Vanney announced.
Altidore did not play and was not on the bench in the Toronto's preseason friendly against the Montreal Impact on Wednesday. He said he lost weight in the off-season to avoid muscle injuries, which have plagued him in the past.
He missed a month of action last year due to a right hamstring issue, and hamstring injuries have been a part of Altidore's career dating back to the 2011 Gold Cup. Altidore pulled up clutching his left hamstring in the USMNT's opening game against Ghana at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and was forced to miss the remainder of the competition.

Toronto opens the season with a match against the New York Red Bulls, one of Altidore's former teams, on March 6. Altidore, who scored in each of the USA's friendlies to cap its annual winter training camp, could be facing a fitness race for the USA's 2018 World Cup qualifying matches against Guatemala on March 25 and 29.
