Watch: Blas Perez bicycle kick nets win for Whitecaps
Blas Perez may be 35, but the Panama veteran is still capable of the spectacular.
Perez's 88th-minute bicycle kick snapped a 1-1 draw and gave the Vancouver Whitecaps a 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire at BC Place Wednesday night.
Perez, who will lead the line for Panama at Copa America Centenario, scored both Vancouver goals in the match–his first two of the season–with the latter being the headliner. Kekuta Manneh's ball in the area deflected straight up in the air, and Perez didn't hesitate some eight yards from goal. The former FC Dallas forward had a look after he connected and appeared to be shocked himself that his effort went in before running to celebrate with his teammates.
The win was Vancouver's second straight and builds momentum heading into an all-Canadian showdown on Saturday at the newly renovated BMO Field against Toronto FC.
