Jesse Lingard won the FA Cup for Manchester United with a late rocket of a volley, giving United a 2–1 lead over Crystal Palace
The 23-year-old Lingard found a deflected ball from inside the six-yard box and struck it with the outside of his right foot, sending it into the upper-left corner for the victory.
United was down a man after Chris Smalling was sent off with a second yellow card midway through extra time.

The game had been scoreless until its final segment, in which Jason Puncheon and Juan Mata traded late goals for Palace and United to force extras.
The match was clouded somewhat by speculation surrounding United’s reportedly imminent hiring of Jose Mourinho to replace Louis van Gaal as manager.
