Tottenham Hotspur will play UEFA Champions League games at Wembley Stadium next season after agreeing to a deal with the venue, according to the BBC.
Spurs will play domestic home games at White Hart Lane in 2016–17, but the club can also play its home matches for all competitions at Wembley in 2017–18 while construction on the new stadium is completed.
The move is temporary while the club constructs a £400 million stadium adjacent to White Hart Lane. The club expects the new stadium to be ready for the 2018–19 season.
“Our season ticket waiting list is over 50,000 so this now also offers us a great opportunity to provide more of our supporters with a chance to see the team play live during our Champions League campaign,“ club chairman Daniel Levy said, according to the BBC. “Importantly, as we know it was our fans' preference, it means that we can play our home matches in London during our season away.”
