Former FC Barcelona defender Dani Alves has joined Juventus on a free transfer, the club announced Monday.

The Brazilian star has signed a two-year deal, which includes an option to extend the contract for 12 months.

Alves spent eight seasons with Barcelona after previously playing for Sevilla and Brazilian club Bahia.

The 33-year-old has won 23 trophies during his time with Barcelona, and has been named to the FIFA FIFPro World XI five times.

Juventus is coming off winning the Serie A title in 2015–16, the 32nd title in club history. Midfielders Miralem Pjanic and Mario Lemina have also joined the team during the transfer period.
