Toronto FC, USA captain Michael Bradley out six weeks

He suffered the injury in the USA's third-place game against Colombia at Copa America Centenario.

Toronto FC and U.S. men's national team captain Michael Bradley will miss the next six weeks with a knee sprain, TFC announced on Friday.

Bradley suffered the injury in the Copa America Centenario third-place match against Colombia, of which he was subbed out in the 79th minute. He had played every minute of the competition up until that point. 

The injury leaves Toronto FC without Bradley, goalkeeper Clint Irwin and midfielder Will Johnson for the next month and a half, with the latter two also injured. Irwin is out with a quadriceps strain, while Johnson suffered a leg fracture while scoring the dramatic Canadian Championship-winning goal against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday night.

Should the timetable hold, they'll all be available for the Aug. 13 matchup against the Houston Dynamo. Toronto FC has eight league matches before then, and the club currently sits in seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings through 15 games, but just a point out of the playoff places with a game in hand. 

The USA has no matches scheduled before the Sept. 2 World Cup qualifier against St. Vincent and The Grenadines, so Bradley won't miss any time for the national team, barring any setbacks.
