Watch: Cristiano Ronaldo acts as Portugal manager during Euro final
Cristiano Ronaldo wasn't one of the players on the field at the end of Euro 2016, with a knee injury forcing him out of Portugal's final vs. France early on. That didn't stop him from trying to direct and influence his teammates during crunch time, though.
After emerging from the locker room to join the rest of his countrymen, the hobbled Ronaldo was animated, locked in and Fernando Santos's de facto deputy in watching Portugal win 1-0 during the extra 30 minutes. It was Eder's strike in the 109th minute that decided the final, and the forward himself said that Ronaldo told him he was going to score before he entered the game, offering the encouragement he needed.
Ronaldo's gesticulating and emotions have been captured in a brilliant compilation video, which can be seen below:
As we wait word on the severity of Ronaldo's knee injury, it's not too outrageous to look ahead to Ronaldo's post-playing career.
Ronaldo the Manager certainly appears to be a distinct possibility should he elect to go that route.
