The Royal Belgian Football Association has decided to part ways with head coach Marc Wilmots following the team’s early exit in the Euro 2016 tournament.

Despite holding the No. 2 spot in FIFA’s ranking heading into the tournament, the Red Devils fell 3-1 to Wales in the quarterfinals.

Wilmots was once a star for the Belgian national team himself, scoring 28 goals in 70 caps for the squad before retiring from the game in 2003. He took control of the club in 2012 and led them to the quarterfinals of the 2014 World Cup, where they fell to a Lionel Messi led Argentina team.

The Belgian FA says the search for a new leader will begin immediately with the hop of having a new coach for the team in place in time for its next scheduled match against Spain on Sept. 1.
