The Philadelphia Union “are in advanced talks” to acquire U.S. men’s national team midfielder Alejandro Bedoya, ESPN’s Marc Stein reports.

Bedoya, 29, has played with Nantes in France’s Ligue 1 since 2013. He told SI's Grant Wahl on the Planet Fútbol Podcast in March that he'd like to “eventually” play in the league.

The Union would pay a transfer fee of $1 million and Bedoya’s salary would be between $750,000 and $850,000, ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle reports.

The Union and Colorado Rapids attempted to secure Bedoya’s transfer last summer, but both moves failed to come together.

Bedoya made his senior international debut in 2010 and has become a fixture in the U.S. lineup.

Bedoya has spent his entire professional career in Europe, playing in Sweden and Scotland in addition to France.
