New York Red Bulls captain Dax McCarty will miss four to six weeks after sustaining a small fracture in his tibia, he announced Monday.
McCarty was forced to leave Sunday’s match against the Chicago Fire just before halftime after taking a hard tackle from Khaly Thiam.
Thiam was issued a yellow card for the tackle.
McCarty, who has played in a franchise record 163 matches, has scored two goals in 21 games this season.
The Red Bulls are currently second in the Eastern Conference standings, four points behind NYCFC.
