Podcast: Interview with Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti
New Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti already has a trophy in tow before his first Bundesliga campaign even starts, following Sunday's German Super Cup win over Borussia Dortmund, kicking off his tenure with the club in victorious fashion.
The expectation is that more trophies will follow. Ancelotti has won the Champions League three times, and Bayern thirsts for a return to European supremacy after coming close but failing to lift the ultimate prize under Pep Guardiola. Ancelotti inherits a loaded squad that has added some talented pieces, in Mats Hummels and Renato Sanches, yet he has some challenges ahead of him at the Allianz Arena.
While in the U.S. as part of Bayern's involvement in the International Champions Cup, Ancelotti sat down with SI's Grant Wahl for wide-ranging interview, touching on his coaching hiatus spent in Vancouver, Julian Green's chances with Bayern's first team, the difficulty in learning German and much more.
