Riyad Mahrez signs new four-year contract with Leicester City
Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez has signed a new contract to remain with the club, putting transfer speculation to rest, the club announced Wednesday.
Mahrez, 25, signed a four-year deal after drawing reported interest from Arsenal and Barcelona.
He was a key part of Leicester’s improbable title run last season, scoring 17 goals in 37 league games en route to PFA Player of the Year honors. He also scored Leicester’s lone goal in a 2–1 defeat to Hull City in the first game of this season.
Leicester signed Mahrez in January 2014 from second-tier French club Le Havre. He was a part of the Leicester team that season that secured promotion to the Premier League.
He joins Jamie Vardy, Kasper Schmeichel, Wes Morgan and Andy King as players from last season's squad to commit their futures to the club.
