The summer transfer window has begun its descent, with a week remaining for the major leagues across Europe to wrap up all the player moves until the midseason window opens in January.

We've seen clubs spend early (Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich) and often (Manchester United, Manchester City, Roma), while some haven't spent nearly enough, according to their fans (and as early results might indicate – ahem, Arsenal). 

​Analytics expert Daniel Altman of North Yard Analytics joined SI's Grant Wahl for our latest Planet Fútbol Podcast interview to discuss the best business and most head-scratching business of the transfer window thus far. Altman looks at a number of factors to determine whether clubs have spent their money wisely and have a true plan for the season, and he pinpoints some of the real sleeper and bargain buys of the summer.
