Mexico looked to clinch a spot in the Gold Cup quarterfinals with a win over Jamaica Thursday night in Colorado but had to settled for a single point after a 0-0 draw.

Both teams won their initial group games, with Mexico carrying the tiebreaker over Jamaica by virtue of goals scored.

In the 11th minute, Elias Hernandez, one of the stars of the 3-1 win over El Salvador, set up Erick Torres with a cross, but the Houston Dynamo forward's header went over the goal.

Torres was back at it minutes later, sending this header attempt past Jamaica goalkeeper Andre Blake, but found himself thwarted by the post.

Mexico continued to press, but Jamaica defender Jermaine Taylor was able to clear things out of harm’s way.

Mexico will play Curacao in a group finale it will be expected to win heavily, while Jamaica will take on El Salvador, looking to secure its place in the knockout stage as well.
