One of the summer's most reported transfer episodes is set to continue as rumours of the Saints re-opening negotiations with Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool over Virgil van Dijk's future circulate.

As reported by Liverpool fan site Empire of the Kop, ex-football lawyer Daniel Vanderkamp has been very vocal on Twitter, claiming the the south coast club are now ready to resume talks with the Reds and broker a deal for their valuable defender.

South African Vanderkamp has previously worked on many Liverpool transfer deals, including the £32.5m transfer of Christian Benteke back in 2015.

In addition, pundits and journalists including ex-Reds midfielder Danny Murphy have also got Kopites excited recently by claiming a deal could be back on. Comments such as these understandably create trepidation regarding the potential deal but fans and pundits alike will just have to wait and see what transpires.

However, one person who is not saying much is Jurgen Klopp, who refused to be drawn-in on Van Dijk, as quoted by the Metro, following a Reds pre-season game against Tranmere.

"Am I allowed to talk about this? I am not!" he said. "Pretty much everything I could say would be a mistake. You or your colleagues wrote everything about this a few weeks ago.

"I was in Iceland by the way when somebody told me this was in the newspaper. Nothing happened since then, all good so far, so I can't say anything about this."
