Crystal Palace Defender Hopes to Build Momentum Ahead of Weekend West Ham Challenge
Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann has spoken of his desire to build momentum ahead of the Eagles' weekend match against West Ham, by beating Bristol City in their Carabao Cup fourth round encounter on Tuesday night.
Palace's were brought back to reality on the weekend. After beating Premier League champions Chelsea the match-week prior, Saturday saw Roy Hodgson's men fall to Newcastle at St James' Park in a bitter 1-0 loss.
However, with West Ham visiting Selhurst Park next weekend, Eagles centre-half Scott Dann has expressed the need to build up some much needed momentum by triumphing over Bristol City midweek:
"The Premier League is the bread and butter. We need to focus most of our energy on that," Dann told Croydon Advertiser.
"But if you win on Tuesday night you gain momentum. It is never nice to lose so we will be going there to win and hopefully gain some momentum from that going into the weekend.
"We know every Premier League game from now until the end of the season is going to be huge. We have got quite a few points to make up before we get near the teams above us."
With Palace slumped at the foot of the Premier League, Bristol have started the season in contrasting form, sitting 7th in the Championship - and Dann is aware of the challenge they bring:
"They are going well in the Championship so it will not be an easy game," he said.
"They have got a lot of quality and if we are not up for the game then it will be a tough one. Whoever the manager picks, we have to make sure we are ready to go."
