Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has said that the club will consider Lothar Matthaus' suggestion to sign Christian Pulisic.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder impressed during his display against the Bavarians at the weekend, which has only fuel speculation over his future. Matthaus in particular was impressed by the young American and said that the German giants should consider a move, as a long term replacement for ageing forward's Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

Speaking to Sky the German legend said: "if Bayern Munich someday looks for a replacement for Robben and Ribery, then they have to put feelers out for Pulisic. He is 19 years old and has high quality."

The German, who won seven Bundesliga titles with Bayern over two spells with the club, continued to praise Pulisic and will have perhaps angered Dormtund fans, who have already seen several of their stars switch to Bavaria.

"With his confidence and his speed, he is called to higher things," Matthaus.

In response, sporting director Salihamidzic did little to quash rumours of a move for Pulisic, and pledged to take the Bayern legend's views into consideration.

He told Sky: "Lothar always has great ideas, and I respect him. I will incorporate his ideas into our deliberations."

Pulisic, who was shortlisted for the prestigious Golden Boy award in 2017, has two goals in 11 Bundesliga outings this season and has caught international attention for his record-breaking antics.

Bayern face mid-table FC Augsburg next and will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table, while Pulisic will be looking to continue his good form against Stuttgart.
