Sergio Busquets Admits Barcelona's Away Form Hasn't Been as 'Solid & Effective' This Season
Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has called for the Catalan side to improve their away form after admitting performances haven't been as 'solid and effective' as they'd like.
Following their recent 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in La Liga - a result that saw them knocked off the top spot in the table - it means that Barça have already dropped 14 points in the league this season, while dropping a further two in the Champions League.
Speaking ahead of Barcelona's Champions League tie away to PSV Eindhoven, Busquets has cited performances away from the Camp Nou as an area of improvement for the reigning La Liga champions.
"We had one very bad week with the matches against Girona, Leganes and Athletic and we paid for it," he said in an interview with Catalunya Radio, as quoted by Marca.
"We've not been as solid and effective away from home as we'd like to be. There is a long way to go in the league and we have had some very good matches against great teams, while we've also done well in the Champions League."
While the result against Diego Simeone's side wasn't the one he was hoping for, it was a significant game for the 30-year-old, as he made his 500th appearance for the club, although Busquets revealed he isn't thinking about emulating Xavi's record of 767 for now.
He added: "To reach the appearance total of Xavi is impossible, I'm not thinking about that. I'd like to achieve it, but it won't be possible. I want to finish things well and be useful for the team without being a problem.
"I don't know when [the end of his Barcelona career will be]. When it's all over I want to enjoy my family because I've never really had four days off in a row. Then I'd like to study to become a coach."
