West Ham are currently working on plans to move stands closer to the pitch in order to improve the atmosphere at the London Stadium.

The Hammers moved into the 60,000 seater stadium in 2016, but have received criticism for its lack of conduciveness to match atmosphere.

As confirmed on their official club website, the lower tiers of the Sir Trevor Brooking and Bobby Moore stands (situated behind each goalpost on the pitch), could be moved further forward by four metres, with the hope of squaring them off to help facilitate a more conventional football stadium atmosphere.

West Ham have also presented their ideas to club fans at a supporters meeting, and have written to existing season ticket holders in those areas of the stadium to inform them of the potential changes.

West Ham's vice-chairman Karen Brady revealed: "Last year I re-stated the Club’s commitment to supporters that we were constantly working hard to continue to enhance the matchday experience at every level.

"My team and I have been working hard in the background with Stadium management, mindful that seating is something supporters wanted us to explore and we have listened.

She added: “Following positive feedback on the initial concept we are pleased that we are now in a position to be able to move forward. As part of the process it is important, first and foremost, that we consult with fans currently in those stands on any proposals and have already started that process.

"The Club and Stadium are committed to working together to ensure we have a home that our fans deserve and can be proud of.
