Wayne Rooney's former squad may have suffered another setback on Wednesday, but he helped his current one to a big three points with a moment of magic in Columbus.

The former Manchester Untied star and current D.C. United centerpiece gave his club the lead against the Columbus Crew en route to a 1-0 win when he scored on a free kick in the 27th minute of Wednesday's contest.

Rooney's shot fizzed through a wall of Crew defenders before sneaking by Columbus–and future Man City–goalkeeper Zack Steffen.

The goal marked Rooney's fifth of the 2019 MLS campaign.
