Vlatko Andonovski is set to be named the next head coach of the U.S. women’s national team, multiple sources tell SI.com, with an official presentation planned to come on Monday in New York City.

Andonovski, 43, has coached Reign FC in the NWSL for the past two seasons after coaching FC Kansas City to two NWSL titles between 2013 and ’17. On Saturday, he was announced as NWSL's Coach of the Year.

Andonovski had yet to sign his contract as of Thursday afternoon, but that signing was considered to be a formality.

Multiple sources said Andonovski was by far the preferred choice of the current USWNT players, some of whom have said they were consulted by WNT GM Kate Markgraf as she went through her search process. At the club level, Andonovski has coached influential U.S. veterans Megan Rapinoe and Becky Sauerbrunn, among others.

The BBC reported on October 14 that Andonovski was set to become the next USWNT coach, but U.S. Soccer denied that was the case at the time.

Andonovski's first games in charge will come in November, when the U.S. hosts Sweden and Costa Rica on Nov. 7 and 10, respectively, in its last matches of 2019.
