Marcus Rashford Free-Kick Stunner Fires Man United to Carabao Cup Quarterfinals
Manchester United is off to the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup thanks to Marcus Rashford's wicked free kick.
The England forward ripped a blast from over 30 yards and tucked it into the upper left-hand corner of the net in the 73rd minute to give Man United a 2-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and send the Red Devils through.
It was Rashford's 25th-minute penalty kick that opened the scoring for the visitors, whose lead evaporated in the 61st after Michy Batshuayi's sensational solo effort in the face of four United defenders.
It's Man United going through, though, knocking Frank Lampard's Chelsea out of the competition. USA's Christian Pulisic, on the heels of his hat trick vs. Burnley, got the start for Chelsea, which, as most Premier League teams do at this stage in the Carabao Cup, trotted out a largely experimental lineup.
Man United is joined by Man City, Liverpool, Everton, Aston Villa, Leicester City, Colchester United and Oxford United in the quarterfinals.
