Christian Pulisic Says He Didn’t Suffer a Low Blow vs. Iran

Viewers at home speculated where he was hit after his heroic goal resulted in a pelvic injury.

Christian Pulisic’s heroic goal for the U.S. national team on Tuesday came at a price when he was injured on the play. The sequence has left the internet with a burning question that he answered Thursday.

His team’s lone goal of the match was enough for a win and advanced the team to the knockout round, but he suffered a significant injury in the process. Pulisic collided with Iran keeper Alireza Beiranvand and it appeared that he got hit in the groin during the process. He didn’t return in the second half and was eventually diagnosed with a pelvic contusion

Initially, viewers at home speculated if he was hit low during the sequence but Pulisic denied it during a press conference.

“I didn’t get hit in the balls,” Pullisic said Thursday, per Doug McIntyre of Fox Sports

During the presser, he was also asked if he will able to play vs. the Netherlands on Saturday in the team’s first knockout-stage match.

“Taking it day-by-day right now, but doing everything in my power to be able to be out there on the field on Saturday.”
