Romeo Beckham continues to follow in the footsteps of his famous father, David Beckham, by signing a one-year contract with Premier League club Brentford over the weekend.

The 20-year-old is coming off one season playing for Brentford’s B team after MLS’s Inter Miami, which David co-owns, loaned him there in January. Romeo Beckham appeared in 15 games for Brentford B and scored once.

The Brentford B team, which consists of players ages 17–21, won the under-21 Premier League Cup last month. Coach Neil MacFarlane said he’s excited to see Beckham return to the club for next season.

“We added Romeo to our squad in January, and he’s been fantastic for the group,” MacFarlane said, via the club’s website. “He’s had a terrific end to the season in terms of his recent match against Manchester City where he showed what he’s learned during his loan with us. We’ve continued to develop him in and out of possession, and we look forward to him coming back in good spirits to continue working with him next season.”

Beckham started his professional soccer career in 2021 when he played for Fort Lauderdale of USL League One. He made 20 appearances for Inter Miami II in 2022, recording two goals and 10 assists.

His father, David, played professional soccer for 20 years before retiring in 2013. He’s best known for his 11 seasons with Manchester United, as well as his tenure with England’s national team from 1992–2009.
