U.S. men’s national team captain Tyler Adams is back in the Premier League after signing for Bournemouth on Sunday.

Adams joins Bournemouth on a five-year deal after the south-coast club agreed to a deal worth more than £20 million ($25.5 million).

After joining Leeds in a £20 million move from RB Leipzig last summer, Adams impressed with 24 league appearances in his debut season in the Premier League before a hamstring injury ended his season in March. He also became the youngest U.S. captain at a World Cup squad since 1950 when he led the team in Qatar and is the reigning U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year.

The move comes just over a week after Adams conducted a medical to join Chelsea, which had agreed to activate his release clause before later pulling out of the deal.

“It’s been widely documented how much his talents have been recognized in this transfer window by other clubs, so to have him sign for AFC Bournemouth shows the ambition we have as a club,” Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said in a statement.

“Tyler is an exciting player who possesses plenty of experience for someone that is just 24 years of age and we’re looking forward to working with him as he’s a player we know will be a great addition to our squad.”

Last year, Bournemouth finished 15th on 39 points in its first year back in the Premier League after being relegated in 2020.

It has been a busy summer for USMNT stars. After Timothy Weah joined Italian giants Juventus, Christian Pulisic signed for AC Milan and was soon joined by Yunus Musah at San Siro. After playing with Adams under Jesse Marsch at Leeds, Brenden Aaronson left the club for a loan to Union Berlin, while starting goalkeeper Matt Turner left Arsenal for Nottingham Forest.
