The first two seasons of the FX soccer documentaryWelcome to Wrexham won multiple Primetime Emmy awards and recruited thousands of Americans to root for a small Welsh football club across the pond. It is, simply put, some of the best sports content out there right now. On Friday, the trailer for Season 3 was released, along with the announcement of a release date.

The new season will drop May 2, and the trailer itself will give you absolute chills.

The documentary was born after Rob McElhenney of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia fame and Ryan Reynolds pooled their resources to purchase Wrexham A.F.C. in 2020. They brought a camera crew in to document their efforts to get Wrexham promoted from the fifth tier of English football and back into the English Football League. At the end of Season 2, they finally accomplished that goal.

Season 3 will follow the team throughout the 2023-'24 season, its first in the EFL since 2008. Viewers of the show know that the plight of the team itself is merely one of several draws. The documentary does an incredible job introducing the audience to the residents of Wrexham and paints a beautiful picture of a long-suffering fandom finally seeing the light after decades of mismanagement. It is heart-warming and tear-jerking and goosebumps-inducing all at the same time.

This next season should be a fun one if the trailer is any indication. Wrexham is back!
