Wrexham Striker Can Set Incredible Goal Record on Final Day of League Two Season
A place in goalscoring history awaits Paul Mullin as Wrexham get ready to battle champions Stockport County on the final day of the 2023/24 season.
The Red Dragons have already booked their place in League One, securing back-to-back promotions for Hollywood co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
Key to Wrexham's continued success has been prolific goalscorer Mullin - who dropped down a division to join the club when they were competing in the National League - and the 29-year-old has the chance to make history when Stockport visit the Racecourse Ground on Saturday.
If Mullin scores, he'll become the first player to ever score 25 or more league goals in four consecutive seasons of the top six tiers of English football. Currently, he sits alongside Thierry Henry, Harry Kane and four others on three seasons.
Mullin's final campaign at Cambridge United yielded 32 goals and he hasn't missed a beat since joining Wrexham in 2021. He scored 26 goals in his first season at the club, but agonisingly missed out on promotion after a thrilling play-off defeat to Grimsby Town.
He then scored a career-high 38 league goals to help Wrexham achieve automatic promotion following a titanic battle with Notts County - they eventually sealed their place in the EFL by winning the play-offs.
Wrexham have again relied on the goals of Mullin this season, with his 24 strikes in the league eight more than teammate Elliot Lee has managed from midfield. Former Premier League striker Steven Fletcher has also chipped in with eight goals to help Wrexham over the line, but it's Mullin who has shone brightest in North Wales.
