Liverpool Secure Champions League Football

With Liverpool's win over Crystal Palace on the last day of the Premier League, Jurgen Klopp's side have qualified for Champions League football next season.

Just a few weeks ago it seemed that Liverpool would not qualify for Champions League football. Fast forward to today, and it is official, Livepool have qualified for the prestigious European competition. With a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace and some help from Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, Liverpool have finished in 3rd place. 

The Reds have endured a very difficult season which saw several players suffer from major injuries. Those who were injured include Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Jordan Henderson and summer signing Diogo Jota. 

Liverpool defeated Crystal Palace in Roy Hodgson's last game as manager before retirement. In the 2-0 win, Thiago Alcantara put on a wonderful display of talent and what Liverpool supporters should expect from him next season with a fully healthy squad. 

Sadio Mane scored both goals in Liverpool's winning effort. The goals came in the 36th minute and 74th minute respectively.

The final Premier League table looks like this: 

1) Manchester City 86 points

2) Manchester United 74 points

3) Liverpool 69 points

4) Chelsea 67 points

5) Leicester City 66 points. 

It was heartbreak for Leicester City and former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers as a 2-4 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the Premier League knocks them out of a Champions League place.

Liverpool and Champions League, a match made in heaven.
