Scott Oldham will be the referee on Saturday as Sunderland take on Luton Town at the Stadium of Light.

Oldham will be joined by Philip Dermott and Mark Stevens as his assistants, as well as Stephen Martin as the fourth official.

The Lancashire-born official has made 198 appearances across the EFL and all domestic competitions, but this Saturday will be Oldham's first appearance in the Championship.

Since starting his professional career during the 2010/11 season in the Premier Reserve League, Oldham has gone on to make a total of 243 appearances, all the way from the National League to the League One.

As well as refereeing a combined 39 matches in the FA Cup, EFL and EFL Trophy, the bulk of Oldham's professional career has come in League One and League Two.

Across the two leagues, Oldham has officiated 159 matches and has become an established referee in the third and fourth tier.

Oldham has been the man in the middle for nine games involving Sunderland so far in his career, eight of which have come in League One, the other was in the EFL Trophy.

Sunderland's record with Oldham as referee is three wins and six draws with no losses.

Of those six draws, the match result has ended 1-1 on all occasions.

Across those nine games, Oldham has dished out 16 yellow cards for the Black Cats, averaging just 1.78 cards per game for Sunderland.

He is yet to hand out a red card in a Sunderland match, but did awarded a penalty for Sunderland in a game against Peterborough in the 2020/21 season.

Peterborough defender Jack Taylor's challenge on Denver Hume was viewed as a foul by Oldham as he pointed to the spot.

Much to Sunderland's delight, Grant Leadbitter converted from 12 yards with 10 minutes left to play, and Sunderland went on to win the game 1-0.
