West Brom are ‘working on’ a deal to sign former Sunderland midfielder Yann M’Vila, Carlos Corberan has confirmed.

Corberan briefly worked with the 33-year-old at Olympiakos, and he says a deal is definitely in the works.

The Baggies, who are above Sunderland in the Championship table, see M’Vila as cover for Jayson Molumby, who is expected to miss the rest of the season with a foot injury.

What appears to be holding up the deal, though, is the visa application.

"Still we are in the same point," Corberan said, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail. "The club is working on it, but there is still no date.

“Hopefully Wednesday we know something more in detail because this is still one position we wanted to strengthen with the injury of Molumby."

M’Vila had a really successful year on loan at Sunderland previously, and he had been strongly linked with a return to Wearside in January.

It all appeared to be paper talk, though, most likely driven by his agent, with Michael Beale claiming midway through the month that M’Vila ‘had not been discussed’ at Sunderland.
