Sunderland beat QPR 3-1 in the Championship on Saturday.

Goals from Jack Clarke, Dan Ballard, and Abdoullah Ba sealed the win, moving the Black Cats up into 7th place of the table ahead of a midweek clash v Blackburn Rovers.

And the last goal-scorer, Ba, is certainly turning heads right now.

The Frenchman has started the last three now, impressing after a steady first season at the Stadium of Light last time round.

He's now scored one and assisted one in five Championship outings this season, coming into the side following the injury to Patrick Roberts.

And now it looks like Roberts could struggle to get back into the side with Ba performing well.

After Saturday's game, Ba spoke to Chronicle Live about his run in the side, saying:

"At the moment I think my confidence is good. I'm very confident, the gaffer gave me always confidence in training and in games.

"I'm very happy to work with the gaffer. We have a lot of young players and I like this feeling because all of the young players you get more confidence and keep pushing together and win like Saturday."

Coming good...

Ba played a bit part role last season, often coming off the bench, and failing to really impress that much when he did start.

But it was clear to see that he had ability and we're now seeing that ability.

Roberts' injury seemingly came at a good time for Ba who's now given Mowbray something to think about going forward.

Mowbray is a huge fan of Roberts but Ba's form is keeping him out of the team, though with such a congested fixture list, Mowbray will surely rotate both.

Blackburn is up next and it's another tough test for Mowbray against his former club.
