Jack Clarke frustrated after Sunderland reject latest PL offer, report claims
Sunderland have rejected a fresh bid from Burnley for Jack Clarke, reports TEAMtalk.
Burnley have been courting the 22-year-old Clarke all summer following his impressive 2022/23 season with Sunderland.
Clarke netted nine times and assisted 12 more in the Championship, and now Burnley want to hand him a second bite at the Premier League following his previous failed move to Spurs.
But Sunderland don't seem too keen on letting him go. TEAMtalk say that Burnley's latest bid was in excess of £10million and that Clarke remains a top summer target for Vincent Kompany's side.
TEAMtalk though say that this latest bid has been rejected, and to the frustration of Clarke who's apparently keen on a move away and who's also been told by Sunderland that the club would accept a bid of £10million.
Tony Mowbray's side achieved a top six finish last time round and Clarke played a key role in that. Expectations are high ahead of next campaign and Clarke remains a key player, but whether or not he'll be there for next season remains to be seen.
Clarke to Burnley...
If Sunderland have told Clarke he can leave for £10million, then rejecting this latest offer is only going to cause unrest.
Clarke though is a good professional and a top player and he won't let this impact upon his performances which have been good in pre-season.
Mowbray will be pinning a lot of his hopes on Clarke next time round and if he can make a strong start to the season then that could really put him in the shop window.
Losing Clarke towards the end of the summer transfer window would be a huge blow but there might only be so much more that the Black Cats can reject.
It now depends on Burnley and how much more they're willing to offer.
