Premier League duo eye summer move for Sunderland stopper
Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson is a summer transfer target for Premier League duo Leicester and Wolves, according to reports.
The 22-year-old has had a fine season for Sunderland so far, building on his key role in helping the Black Cats out of League One last season.
That has not gone unnoticed around the country, and Patterson is now attracting interest from the Premier League.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, both Wolves and Leicester are keeping a very close eye on him for the rest of the season ahead of potential summer moves.
Sunderland, though, will not be too concerned. Patterson signed a new four-year deal last summer and is very happy at his boyhood club.
Patterson won the Mitre Sports Save of the Round award for his injury-time double-stop against Fulham, and Black Cats boss Tony Mowbray has been incredibly impressed by the youngster this season.
“The goalkeeper... listen, he's a top goalkeeper,” Mowbray said after the Fulham game.
“I've been in football more than 40 years and this kid is a very talented boy who has an amazing temperament
“Nothing fazes him, he's very calm about everything, he's not bouncing all over the place and losing the plot.
“He's a very calm goalie who makes great saves.”
