Sunderland FA Cup replay to be screened live on terrestrial television
The FA Cup fourth round replay between Sunderland and Fulham will be screened live on BBC, according to the Radio Times.
The original tie was a real thriller, with Sunderland giving a superb account of themselves and being ultimately unfortunate to be held to a 1-1 draw by the Premier League side.
It was such an absorbing game that it was even shown first on Match of the Day that night.
However, the BBC have decided to screen the full 90 minutes live when the two sides meet again to settle the tie on Wednesday 8 February.
The news was buried in a an article about EastEnders, which primed fans of the soap opera for a change in their schedule.
“EastEnders' classic schedule is being shaken up next week with the continuation of the FA Cup,” the Radio Times article says.
“On Wednesday 8th February, the replay between Fulham and Sunderland will go ahead on BBC One instead of the day before (as previously billed) on Tuesday 7th. It will air at 7:30pm, shifting EastEnders' schedule.”
The winner of the tie will earn a fifth round home tie against Leeds United.
