'We have a good team with good players' -Youngster loving his time at Sunderland
Edouard Michut says he is enjoying his time at Sunderland as he nears an impressive first season on Wearside.
The Frenchman joined on an initial year-long loan from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain last summer, although Sunderland have an option to make it a permanent deal at the end of the season.
Given the time they have already invested in his development, it seems highly unlikely they will not take up that option, and Michut appears keen to stick around as well.
“It’s really nice, we have a good team with good players,” Michut, 20, said about his experience for playing for Sunderland so far. “I think that’s what I needed when I came to Sunderland.
“It’s about playing games with good intensity and the Championship is a really tough league, but it’s good.”
Michut was speaking after playing his part in the impressive 1-0 away win against in-form Norwich.
That result ended a three game losing streak and was the perfect way to bounce back from the 5-1 home defeat to Stoke last week.
“It feels good,” Michut said. “We had to win after the loss against Stoke. I think we played really well and were solid defensively, and that’s good.
“I think the defence was really solid today. When we scored we were all together, and that’s what we have to do for the rest of the year. Play like that.
“[The losing run] was tough, but after the Stoke result the gaffer told us that we have to be compact again and work really hard, and that’s what you saw on the pitch today. We won 1-0 against a really good team with the ball, so it’s really good.”
