Sunderland looking to poach Birmingham City talent
Sunderland are 'making a pitch' to sign Birmingham City youngster Jobe Bellingham, reports Daily Mail.
Bellingham, 17, is the younger brother of Borussia Dortmund and England star Jude Bellingham.
Jobe is also a product of the Birmingham City youth academy - he made his league debut for the club last time round and has featured 21 times in the Championship this season.
Like his older brother, Bellingham is being earmarked by clubs across England and Europe. Dortmund have been linked with the attacker, as well as the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, and Newcastle United.
But a report form the Daily Mail earlier today revealed that Sunderland are making an ambitious move to sign Bellingham this summer.
Their report writes that the Black Cat are 'making a pitch' for Bellingham, with the Englishman set to cost around £300,000 in compensation.
One for the future...
Sunderland's recruitment has been very impressive this season. They're poaching younger players from across the world and throwing some of them straight in the deep end of the Championship, and the majority of whom have prevailed.
Names like Aji Alese, Dan Ballard, and Edouard Michut have all impressed this season, as well as loan man Amad Diallo.
So a Sunderland move for Bellingham certainly makes sense, and whilst it's ambitious move, Sunderland will be a very attractive option for Bellingham.
He's not quite at the level of his older brother yet, so a move to a big European club might be too soon.
But a move to a club where he'll get more regular game time - and a move to a club that is proving to be a very effective place for younger players to progress - should be a very attractive option for Bellingham.
This could be a very exciting summer for Sunderland who finish their season with a trip to Preston North End next Monday.
