Sunderland to sign giant Dutch defender as early summer business continues
Sunderland have continued their eclectic start to the transfer window by agreeing a deal to sign giant Dutch centre-back Jenson Seelt from PSV Eindhoven.
The Black Cats have been active in the market since the end of the season and have already added Jobe Bellingham, Nectarios Triantis and Luis Hemir to their squad.
They have not rested on the laurels either, with Seelt also set to join the Wearsiders.
“Sunderland AFC have reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven for the transfer of Jenson Seelt,” a club statement read.
“Personal terms have been agreed with the 20-year-old centre back, who will travel to the North East this week to undergo a medical and finalise a move to the Stadium of Light.”
Seelt is one that has come completely out of the blue, although he appears to be another fine addition. Standing 6’4”, he also continues the theme of players being signed that will bring up the height of the squad which was an obvious weakness last season.
As well as being physically imposing, Seelt is quite typically Dutch in terms of being comfortable on the ball, although he is yet to make a breakthrough at senior level for PSV.
He was in the senior squad on nine occasions though, and was a key player last season for Jong PSV in the Eerste Divisie, which is the second tier in the Netherlands.
